The Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey has stated that government does not have money to embark on infrastructure development and will therefore invite private sector to help. This he said, must however be backed by a robust law to manage such investment by the private sector. The minister was speaking at the 4th Jurists’ Confab organised by the Faculty of Law of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies of the University.
Ace broadcaster, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has called on law students of the University of Cape Coast to strive for integrity in all their endeavours.
He challenged them to identify their purpose in life and live a purpose beyond themselves. That, he said, would make them live a life of integrity.
Mr. Azure made the call when he addressed law students at the Celt Auditorium 900.
President John Mahama has inaugurated the John Evans Atta Mills Presidential Library in Cape Coast with a call on Ghanaians to be guided by the ideals of the late President as this year’s elections draw near.
“As we go for elections later in the year, may the life of Prof. restrain both our political discourses and actions”, he appealed.
In the first semester of every academic year, the Faculty organises a ROLL CALL ceremony aimed at inducting first year students. It is a gathering Faculty, students and parents and family members of students and some invited guests. Justices of Superior Courts are invited to swear in the students and also deliver keynote addresses. They also use the occation to admonish students of code of ethics and behaviour of the legal profession and also as law students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Cape Coast.
The Faculty of Law, University of Cape Coast organizes an annual event know as the the JURISTS' CONFAB. It is a meeting of Judges, Legal Practitioners, Law Teachers and Law Students which is convened to reflect on the current state of the law in Ghana and outside. The confab affords students the opportunity to meet, interact and learn from those those they as to be while the judges, legal practitioners, and law teachers, who come from various faculties of law nationwide, also share their experiences and expertise with students of law. The Faculty of Law of University of Cape Coast on Friday 23rd September, 2016 graduated its first batch of Law students. All the students were awarded the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. The faculty graduated all the 49 students who enrolled as the first batch with eight (8) making first class honours, Twenty-one (21) making second class upper category, 15 making second class lower division, four students made a third class and one student making a pass. The pioneer batch also made tremendous success with about 50% of the total student body making it to the Ghana Law School.
